As the festive season is upon us we thought we would do something a little different this month.
Our Empire chef Ian has let us into his secret festive mulled wine recipe to help warm you up on even the chilliest of Christmas nights.
We were happy to test this recipe out for you, and now here at Venture Restaurants we are well and truly in the Christmas spirit!
Here’s how to recreate this much loved, traditional Christmas drink at home….
1 bottle of red wine
¼ bottle white wine
500 grams sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
4 bay leaves
6 star anise
Squeeze the juice of the lemons & oranges into a pan and add the water.
Throw in the squeezed lemon & orange skins to the water, then add all remaining ingredients except the wine. Cook through & bring to the boil.
Lower the heat, then add the wine & simmer (Handy hint – don´t bring it back to the boil or the alcohol will evaporate!!!)
If the mixture is too sweet add a little more red wine or a touch of brandy to taste.
